IRCTC stated that the acquisition would not pose a challenge to them.

In a tweet directed at Jairam Ramesh, IRCTC clarified that his statement was misleading.

It emphasised that Trainman, now owned by Adani, would only complement IRCTC's services and does not present a threat or challenge.

IRCTC further said that Trainman is one of the 32 authorised business-to-customer partners of IRCTC, and its acquisition by Adani Enterprises would not bring about any significant changes.

Adani Digital Labs, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, made the announcement through an exchange filing about the acquisition of Trainman.

The company entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire a 100% stake in Trainman.

This acquisition serves as the initial entry of the Adani group into the railways sector.

This is Adani Enterprises' second acquisition in the travel and booking industry. In October 2021, Adani Enterprises acquired a minority stake in Cleartrip, an online travel aggregator owned by Flipkart India.

The new acquisition indicates Adani's interest and presence in the travel and booking space.

Trainman is a train ticket booking agent authorised by IRCTC.

Established in 2011 by Vineet Chirania and Karan Kumar, both graduates of IIT-Roorkee, Trainman started as a startup dedicated to addressing various train ticket-related concerns.

The company offers real-time updates on seat availability, live train status, and passenger name records, providing valuable information to users.
