New Delhi: The Union Cabinet approved three metro rail projects in Karnataka and Maharashtra, with a combined estimated cost of approximately Rs 30,765 crore.

The Cabinet greenlit two corridors under Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase-3, with a total projected cost of Rs 15,611 crore.

The first corridor will stretch from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura, covering 21 stations, while the second will run from Hosahalli to Kadabagere, with nine stations. The project is expected to be operational by 2029.

The Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project was approved at a cost of Rs 12,200 crore. This line will link key areas such as Naupada, Wagle Estate, Dongripada, Hiranandani Estate, Kolshet, and Saket, as per a government statement.

The Cabinet also sanctioned the extension of Pune Metro Phase-1 from Swargate to Katraj, covering 5.46 km. This extension is projected to cost Rs 2,954.53 crore and will be operational by 2029.
