Bankura University launches Santali-language UG programmes for tribal students

Kolkata/IBNS: The Junglemahal area of Bankura is inhabited by a large number of Santals who have passed the 10th and 12th grades in Santali vernacular mode.
These students may not be able to access the fruits of higher education unless taught in their own vernacular language.
Inspired by the advice and initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, Bankura University has opened a special undergraduate wing (UG) for teaching and learning in the Santali language mode.
The university has taken decisive initiatives for the development of the indigenous populace of the Junglemahal region.
