India at the Met Gala 2025: SRK, Kiara among others lead a dazzling cultural showcase

It’s that time of the year again—and this time, India made its mark. At the Met Gala 2025, Indian stars didn’t just walk the red carpet, they made bold cultural statements through their fashion.
From royal silhouettes to symbolic embellishments, India’s presence was powerful, personal, and impossible to miss.
Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan made a commanding debut appearance at the Met Gala in a Sabyasachi black floor-length coat, a pleated satin kamarbandh, a custom stack of accessories and The Bengal Tiger Head Cane, crafted with 18k gold and studded gemstones.
"My interpretation of the Black Dandy is demonstrating his super stardom on a global stage. Dressed in classic menswear with the maximalist flourish of Sabyasachi, Shah Rukh Khan is a magician, superstar, and icon," wrote Khan's designer Sabyasachi on Instagram who also walked the carpet.
Marking her Met Gala debut, Kiara Advani—who is expecting her first child with actor Sidharth Malhotra—turned heads in Gaurav Gupta's custom creation.
The striking black, gold, and white ensemble, titled "Bravehearts", paid a heartfelt tribute to motherhood.
"Bravehearts is built on the spirit of the Black Dandy- those who challenged norms and reshaped culture with grace, strength and individuality," wrote Gaurav Gupta on Instagram.
Her sculptural gown featured a dramatic black silhouette with a flowing white train and intricate gold embellishments. At its center was a gold breastplate adorned with crystals, forming two interlinked hearts—representing mother and child—connected by a chain-like umbilical cord.
A heart-shaped mini plate on her belly subtly honored the life growing within.
Indian pop icon and actor Diljit Dosanjh made his Met Gala debut in a pristine white royal Sikh outfit, complete with a turban, drape, and ceremonial sword case.
Designed by Prabal Gurung, the regal ensemble paid tribute to his Punjabi heritage with elegance and pride.
"Inspired by The Theme of Black Dandyism, I Bring My Turban, My Culture & My Mother Tongue to The MET GALA," wrote Diljit on Instagram.
Making her fifth appearance at the Met, Priyanka Chopra Jonas walked the blue carpet in a tailored polka dot suit dress which is a custom design by Olivier Rousteing of Balmain.
Chopra was accompanied by her husband and singer Nick Jonas.
This year’s event was co-chaired by music producer Pharrell Williams, actor Colman Domingo, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and rapper A$AP Rocky, with basketball icon LeBron James serving as honorary chair.
The Met Gala, held annually to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, was founded in 1948 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert.
Over the decades, it has evolved into one of the world’s most prestigious fashion events.
