Three-Day exhibition pays tribute to literary legends Sunil Gangopadhyay and Shakti Chattopadhyay

Kolkata/IBNS: A three-day exhibition celebrating the life and works of eminent author Sunil Gangopadhyay, on the occasion of his 92nd birth anniversary, and renowned poet Shakti Chattopadhyay, was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Gaganendra Pradarshan Shala.
Organized by The Bengal in collaboration with Abrittilok and supported by the Sahitya Akademi, the exhibition has been thoughtfully curated by Soumitra Mitra, Cultural Advisor to The Bengal.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by celebrated poet Joy Goswami, who formally opened the exhibition and delivered a stirring address on the towering contributions of both literary stalwarts. He reflected on their timeless legacy and their enduring role as pillars of Bengali literature. City arts personality Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee was also present.
Following the inauguration, a vibrant cultural program was presented by The Bengal and Abrittilok, with support from the Sahitya Akademi, the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
In the evening, celebrations shifted to the Paschim Banga Akademi auditorium, where a special event brought together a galaxy of Bengali literary and cultural luminaries, including Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Bratati Bandyopadhyay, Jashodhara Roychowdhury, Padmanabha Dasgupta, and Anindya Chattopadhyay, among others.
The occasion was further enriched by the presence of members of Pronam and distinguished guests such as theatre maestro Shri Rudraprasad Sengupta, Meghnad Bhattacharya, Subhasis Mukhopadhyay, Meenakshi Chattopadhyay, and Swati Gangopadhyay.
The exhibition stands as a fitting tribute to two of Bengal’s most beloved literary figures, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into their lives and creative journeys. It will remain open to the public for the next two days.
