3 militant associates of hizbul Mujahideen arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam
Srinagar: J&K Police on Saturday said three militant associates of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday.
Police said arms and ammunition was also recovered from the trio.
The three were arrested at a checkpoint in the district.
"Based on a credible input regarding anti-national elements carrying illegal arms and ammunition, Kulgam police established a specific Naka at Daderkoot Alamganj crossing. A motorcycle was intercepted and while searching illegally kept arms and ammunition were recovered," a police statement said.
The arms included pistol, two magazines and 13 live pistol rounds.
"All the three persons were detained and after sustained interrogation, preliminary investigation revealed that they are involved in terror crimes and are providing support to terror organisation," police said.
The trio were identified as Mohammad Abass Wagay of Wuyan, Imamsahab Shopian, Gowhar Shafi Mir and Nisar Rehman Sheikh, both residents of DH Pora Shopian.
Police said the trio were associated with Hizbul Mujahideen and the arrest was a major success in curbing militant activities and to safeguard the public.
