Bengal jobs scam: Former minister Partha Chatterjee granted bail in CBI case by Supreme Court
New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court on Monday granted former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee bail in the teacher recruitment scam, which is investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), media reports said.

A top court bench of Justices MM Sundresh and NK Singh granted bail on a plea filed by Chatterjee, who challenged the case filed by the CBI.
The CBI opposed the former politician's bail plea saying he was the "mastermind" behind the conspiracy, CNN News 18 reported.
Chatterjee, a former close aide of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was removed from the state cabinet and suspended from the TMC shortly after his arrest in July 2022.
Former primary education board president and Trinamool MLA Manik Bhattacharya, youth leader Kuntal Ghosh are among the people who have been arrested so far in connection with the scam.
Former Calcutta High Court judge and now a BJP MP, Abhijit Ganguly had ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.
