Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Russia for the BRICS Summit on Tuesday, received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora members in Kazan city.

The people who had gathered to welcome PM Modi sang Hindi songs and chanted “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, reported ANI.

Indian diaspora members were seen wearing Indian attire and holding tricolour in their hands as they welcomed the PM to Russia.

Sharing a video of the warm welcome he received in Kazan, Modi acknowledged the gesture and wrote on X: "Thankful for the welcome in Kazan. The Indian community has distinguished itself all over the world with their accomplishments. Equally gladdening is the popularity of Indian culture globally."

A connect like no other!

Prime Minister Modi is visiting Russia to attend the 16th BRICS Summit.

He met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

This was the second meeting between the two leaders this year.

The two leaders had earlier met in Moscow for the 22nd Annual Summit in July 2024.

Modi appreciated the Russian Chairship of BRICS and its efforts to strengthen multilateralism, advance sustainable development, and push for global governance reform.

"The two leaders also reviewed bilateral cooperation in a range of fields, including political, economic, defence, energy, and people-to-people ties," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

They welcomed the forthcoming meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Cultural matters, which is scheduled to be held in November 2024 in New Delhi.
