Hunger strike announced after Sonam Wangchuk's removal

Dipke on Saturday announced an indefinite hunger strike after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed by police from Jantar Mantar on the 21st day of his fast.

Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike since June 28, was taken to a hospital in the national capital, prompting CJP members to allege that authorities had cracked down on the protest.

Delhi High Court had expressed concern

The police action came days after the Delhi High Court directed the Centre to ensure Wangchuk's health amid concerns over his prolonged fast.

According to media reports, Wangchuk has lost around 9 kg during his 21-day hunger strike.

Dipke says protest, Parliament march will continue

In a video message released later, Dipke said the agitation would continue despite Wangchuk's removal and confirmed that the planned march to Parliament on July 20 would go ahead as scheduled.

The protest, spearheaded by the online satirical campaign Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak.
