Bengali actor Koel Mallick on Monday took oath as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from West Bengal, marking her formal entry into politics on an All India Trinamool Congress ticket.
She was among several prominent figures sworn in on the same day, including singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo, former Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar, senior advocate Menaka Guruswamy, and BJP leader Rahul Sinha.
Koel later shared glimpses of her first day in Parliament on social media, offering a peek into the milestone moment.
Traditional look for a landmark day
For the oath ceremony, Koel chose a classic white saree with a red border—an iconic Bengali style.

Her parents—veteran actor Ranjit Mallick and Deepa Mallick—as well as her in-laws were also present at Parliament to witness the occasion.

Notably, Ranjit Mallick had earlier served as the Sheriff of Kolkata.
On the film front
On the professional front, Koel was last seen in Mitin – Ekti Khunir Sandhaney, directed by Arindam Sil.
The film marks the third instalment in the popular franchise, with Koel reprising her role as Pragyaparamita Mukherjee, also known as Mitin Maashi.
