The mishap occurred while she was travelling from Belapur to Ulwe.

Instead of guiding her to the Bay Bridge in Belapur, the navigation app diverted her along a road beneath it, towards the Dhruvatara Jetty.

Unaware of the incorrect route, she continued driving as per the app's instructions and eventually landed in the water.

Personnel from the marine security unit, who witnessed the incident, swiftly pulled her out as she was seen floating.

She escaped without any injuries, and the vehicle was later retrieved using a crane, as seen in a video from the spot.

This isn’t an isolated case of misnavigation by Google Maps.

Last year, three people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun distric after their car, guided by Google Maps, ended up on a broken bridge and fell 50 feet into a river while en route from Bareilly to Dataganj.

Following the incident, Google had said it was cooperating with authorities and added, “Our deepest sympathies go out to the families. We're working closely with the authorities and providing our support to investigate the issue.”

In another instance, a group of tourists from Hyderabad drove into a swollen stream in Kerala while relying on the app for navigation.

Officials said the road had been submerged due to heavy rain, and the unfamiliar tourists continued ahead, unknowingly entering the water.

Fortunately, all four made it out safely.
