Meghalaya honeymoon murder: Sonam convinced Raja to visit Kamakhya temple before consummating wedding

Shillong/IBNS: Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman who was killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, was convinced by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi to visit Assam's Maa Kamakhya Temple before consummating their wedding, media reports said.
Investigators found that Raja accordingly planned their trip to Assam's Guwahati and then to Meghalaya for honeymoon.
Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha planned to kill Raja in the jungles of the northeastern state, the probe officials said.
Sonam and Raja, who got married on May 11, visited Meghalaya on 20th of the same month. They went missing on May 23.
Sonam had hired killers to murder Raja. Four accused in the case- Anand Kurmi, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Raj- have been arrested.
Sonam was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on Monday after she surrendered at a police station.
A week after the newly-wed couple went missing, Raja's body was recovered from a gorge.
According to Meghalaya cops, Sonam was in an extramarital affair and wanted to get rid of Raja. Hence, she plotted the murder.
She planned the murder in connivance with her boyfriend, Raj, and surrendered under pressure on June 8, according to the police. Both were later arrested.
