Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto were also seen in images shared by Prime Minister Modi on his official X account.

“BRICS Summit 2026 gets underway in Delhi,” Modi wrote while sharing the images.

The leaders have gathered in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, being hosted by India under its 2026 BRICS chairship.

BRICS has emerged as a key platform for coordinating economic policy and strengthening cooperation among major emerging economies. It also serves as an important forum for member countries to coordinate positions on global governance and advance the interests of the Global South in multilateral institutions.

The grouping’s agenda spans development, finance, technology, trade and people-to-people exchanges, reflecting the growing economic weight and aspirations of emerging economies.

BRICS also provides its members with a platform to exchange experiences and address shared challenges.

Under its 2026 presidency, India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12-13. This marks India’s fourth chairship of the grouping.
