Modi slams TMC on trade, fisheries at Haldia; vows 7th pay commission for govt employees

Addressing a rally in Haldia, Modi highlighted key sectors including fisheries, industry, and the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission for state government employees.

On Trade and Industry

“The Bengal that once formed the bedrock of India’s progress and bolstered manufacturing and trade has been pushed down the development ladder by the TMC,” Modi said.

He added that Haldia, historically known as Tamralipta, was once a thriving hub of global trade and a major industrial centre in modern India, but has seen factories shut down over the decades.

Promise to Mahishya Community

Targeting the state government, Modi said the Mahishya community’s long-standing demands have been ignored.

“I assure you that a BJP government will function as per the Constitution and ensure that everyone gets their rightful due,” he said.

On Welfare Schemes

Modi alleged that the TMC government has deprived people of central welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat.

“Through this scheme, poor families and senior citizens above 70 years receive free treatment, but it has not been implemented here,” he said, adding that political differences should not come at the cost of public welfare.

Push for ‘Double Engine’ Government

Emphasising the need for alignment between the Centre and the state, Modi said a “double engine” BJP government would accelerate Bengal’s development.

“A double engine government will make Bengal self-reliant in fisheries and food production,” he said.

Seventh Pay Commission Promise

Modi also promised that a BJP government would implement the Seventh Pay Commission for state government employees, teachers, and other service providers soon after coming to power.
