'Nothing will give India more happiness than...': NSA Ajit Doval on India's stand at global meet on Ukraine War
Riyadh: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Saturday attended a conference held in Saudi Arabia along with counterparts from various nations. The main objective of this conference is to explore avenues for achieving a "peaceful resolution" to the ongoing Ukraine conflict, media reports said.
This two-day event, organized by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in Jeddah, has drawn the attendance of senior security officials from nearly 40 countries.
Notably, sources indicate Russia has not received an invitation to attend the conference, according to an NDTV report.
"Nothing will give India more happiness and satisfaction than such an outcome," Doval was quoted as saying by NDTV.
"India's approach has been and always will be to promote dialogue and diplomacy. This is the only way forward for peace," he said.
Doval said this manner of resolving the issue should be acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine.
"The meeting confronts a two-fold challenge - resolution of the situation and softening the consequences of the conflict. Efforts must be directed on both fronts simultaneously and much more groundwork is needed to ensure this," he said.
"The conference is faced with a dual challenge - resolving the existing situation and mitigating the aftermath of the conflict. It's imperative to address both these aspects concurrently, and extensive preparatory work is essential to achieve this," he commented, according to the report.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the G7 summit in Japan.
During this interaction, PM Modi assured Zelensky that India is committed to doing everything within its capacity to contribute to a resolution of the conflict.
