Police said the student was identified as Dasari Harsha hailing from Chintaguda village, Jannaram Mandal of Adilabad district.
He was studying MBBS final year in Government Medical College here.
Exact cause behind Harsha's extreme step yet to be ascertained by the police.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.
