"Remote voting aside from the legal caveats of who is a 'domestic migrant' raises pertinent questions on the transparency and sanctity of the entire election process," said TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

"I have personal apprehensions regarding the same and out of my concern for the sanctity of the election process, I wish to oppose the introduction of such a move," the letter of Jan 10, was released on Wednesday by the party.

A separate media report said that most parties oppose the remote voting plan, the ECI puts off demonstrations with parties demanding more in-depth discussion on the matter.

The ECI put off the demonstration of a prototype Remote Voting Machine (RVM), which was scheduled after remarks by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and a presentation on remote voting.
