Uttar Pradesh: Five injured in firing during Muharram procession
Rampur: Five persons were injured in firing during a procession on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura Muharram month in Civil Lines area of Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said.
The sources here said that the incident took place in Raipur when the two parties had a scuffle while the procession was being taken out.
"During the scuffle, someone opened fire in which five persons were injured," they said.
Police sources said that the injured, identified as Naeem, Furkaan, Imran, Islam and Babu, have been admitted to the district hospital.
"Heavy police force has reached the spot after the incident," they said.
The sources also said that the scuffle broke out between village head Zakir, his brother Naeem and their opponent over an old rivalry.
