Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the Congress government had not been informed by CJP about its plan to organise the demonstration at Town Hall.
The denial comes amid CJP’s planned protests in different cities, including Delhi, where police also refused permission for the group to hold a gathering at Central Park in Connaught Place.
Bengaluru police reject Town Hall venue
CJP had planned to organise its Tiranga March at Town Hall as part of its wider campaign.
However, authorities did not grant permission for the proposed gathering, citing Freedom Park as the designated location for protests and demonstrations.
Shivakumar said the Congress government had not been kept informed about the party’s plans to hold the demonstration at Town Hall.
The decision highlights the restrictions governing the venues available for public demonstrations in Bengaluru, where Freedom Park is designated for protests.
CJP cites peaceful protest
CJP has maintained that its demonstrations follow the principles of peace and non-violence advocated by Mahatma Gandhi.
The party has also raised concerns over electoral issues and asserted its right to organise peaceful protests.
The group has held demonstrations in several parts of the country and indicated that it intends to continue exercising its constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
The denial of permission in Bengaluru comes as CJP seeks to organise rallies in multiple cities, with authorities citing designated protest venues and permission requirements.
Delhi Police also deny permission
In Delhi, police denied CJP permission to hold a gathering at Central Park in Connaught Place on Friday afternoon.
Police personnel also visited the Delhi residence where CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke is staying and served him a notice ahead of the proposed Tiranga March.
The notice stated that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was in force in Connaught Place.
It also cited the absence of permission for the planned rally.
The developments in Bengaluru and Delhi come as CJP seeks to hold demonstrations in different parts of the country, while authorities maintain restrictions on protest venues and require organisers to obtain the necessary permissions.
