In a post on social media, Alia extended her birthday wishes to the Prime Minister and said the initiative reflected the idea of collective action and giving back.

She said the schools would be refurbished based on recommendations from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The announcement came as several Bollywood personalities also posted birthday messages for Modi.

Alia, Ranbir to refurbish 20 schools

Sharing a birthday message for Modi, Alia wrote that she and Ranbir were pledging to refurbish 20 schools as part of the campaign.

She said the initiative would help create "brighter, better-equipped spaces" for children to learn and thrive.

The couple's announcement comes amid the launch of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan, which is being held from September 17 to October 17 to mark Modi's birthday and 25 years of his public life.

Shah Rukh Khan,  Salman Khan extend birthday wishes

Several other Bollywood celebrities also wished Modi on his birthday.

Shah Rukh Khan also shared a birthday message, wishing Modi good health, happiness and fulfilment.

Salman Khan wrote on X, "Janam Din Mubarak Ho Honourable PM Sahab, Wish you a very Happy Birthday Narendra Bhai Modi. Jai Hind."

Akshay Kumar said the occasion was being marked with a resolve for service and described helping those in need as a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday.

Mohanlal, Kangana Ranaut, Jackie Shroff join wishes

South Indian actor Mohanlal also extended his wishes to the Prime Minister, referring to Modi's commitment to the country's progress in his post.

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut shared a photograph with Modi along with a birthday message.

Jackie Shroff also posted a picture with the Prime Minister on Instagram and wished him on his birthday.

What is Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan?

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan began on September 17 and is scheduled to continue until October 17. The BJP has described it as a month-long campaign to mark Modi's 25 years in public life.

The campaign includes various service and public outreach activities, including blood donation drives, health camps, cleanliness initiatives and other welfare programmes.

Alia and Ranbir's pledge to refurbish 20 schools is among the initiatives announced in connection with the campaign.
