Joker: Folie a Deux bags Rs. 5 crore on opening day in India's box office
New Delhi/IBNS: Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie a Deux starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga has earned Rs. 5 crore on the opening day in India's box office.
The film was released in India on October 2.
As per a report by Sacnilk, the sequel to Joker had an overall 5.81% English Occupancy on Wednesday.
Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios, the film's estimated collections are impressive internationally.
It has an estimation of a global earning of $140 million with $55-60 million in the US market, reports claimed. About 4,000 theatres are set to show Joker's sequel in the US.
In Korea, where the film was released on October 1, Joker: Folie a Deux bagged $1.3 million on the inaugural day.
The film will be released in the United States on October 4. It was rolled out in major markets including France and Italy on Wednesday.
It will be expanded to multiple other markets by this week.
In Joker: Folie a Deux, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role from the 2019 film Joker, which is loosely based on DC comic characters.
In the sequel, Lady Gaga joined Joaquin Phoenix as his love interest, named Harley Quinn.
The film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on September 4, 2024.
