The 35th Battalion of Assam Rifles was conferred with the prestigious Governor of Tripura Citation 2026 during an Investiture Ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in  Agartala on Monday, in recognition of its exemplary service and outstanding contribution towards peace, security and humanitarian assistance in Tripura.

The Battalion, deployed in Agartala since September 2024, distinguished itself through exceptional professionalism and operational excellence across multiple domains. During its tenure, the unit played a pivotal role in counter-narcotics operations under the vision of “Nasha Mukt North East” by actively targeting narcotics trafficking, illegal cultivation and associated unlawful activities.

The Battalion also undertook extensive domination patrols, mobile vehicle check posts and coordinated security operations in close synergy with civil administration, police and intelligence agencies, thereby strengthening the overall security architecture in the State.

During the devastating floods in Tripura, troops of 35 Assam Rifles displayed exemplary courage and humanitarian commitment by conducting rescue and relief operations under extremely challenging conditions. The Battalion successfully rescued stranded civilians, distributed relief materials and assisted in restoration of normalcy in affected areas.

In addition, the Battalion actively participated in joint training and coordination exercises with various security and civil agencies, enhancing inter-agency cooperation and operational preparedness.

Through sustained civic action programmes, medical camps, educational initiatives, awareness drives and effective perception management and Information Warfare outreach, the Battalion fostered robust civil-military relations and strengthened the bond of trust and goodwill between Assam Rifles and the local populace.

The commendable efforts and unwavering dedication of 35 Assam Rifles earned widespread appreciation from the people and administration of Tripura, culminating in the award of the Governor of Tripura Citation for the year 2026.
