The All-India UCO Bank Divyangjan Employees Welfare Association, established on 17th March 2023 with the noble mission of promoting non-discrimination, equality, and empowerment of differently-abled employees in the banking sector and beyond, successfully organized a Disability Awareness Cycathalon Rally in collaboration with the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day.
The event was flagged off from the historic Ujjayanta Palace by Sanjeev Roy, Zonal Manager, UCO Bank, Agartala Zonal Office, and Shri Subhrangshu Bhakta Chowdhury, General Secretary, All India UCO Bank Divyangjan Employees Welfare Association.
A total of 45 cyclists participated, representing all age groups – from young riders under 12 years to senior cyclists aged above 60. The participants gathered at 6:30 AM at the Ujjayanta Palace premises and pedalled through the city’s key locations, spreading the message of inclusivity, empathy, and equal opportunities for all. The presence of both young and elderly riders reflected the unifying spirit of the event.
During the program, Shri Subhrangshu Bhakta Chowdhury, General Secretary of the Association, felicitated Shri Sanjeev Roy and Gopesh Debnath – Bicycle Mayor of Agartala, faculty member at the Government College of Art & Craft, and leader of the Agartala Cycloholics team – in recognition of their continuous efforts towards promoting cycling, road safety, and social awareness. The gesture was warmly appreciated by all, making it a memorable and inspiring moment.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to continue working towards an inclusive and accessible society where everyone, regardless of abilities, can contribute and thrive.
