The 9th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) organized a voluntary blood donation camp at its headquarters in Sachirambari under the Jolaibari Assembly Constituency of South Tripura district, reaffirming its commitment to social service alongside its regular security responsibilities.
The personnel of the 9th TSR have been actively engaged in various social welfare initiatives in addition to performing their official duties with dedication. The battalion has also earned recognition for its prompt and effective response to natural disasters across South Tripura district. Naib Subedar Pintu Das has been playing a key role in extending assistance to people in need through various humanitarian initiatives.
Keeping in view the growing demand for blood, the battalion organized the blood donation camp to encourage voluntary blood donation. Speakers at the event highlighted that blood donation is one of the noblest forms of service, as there is no substitute for human blood despite significant advancements in medical science. They stressed that voluntary blood donation is the only way to address blood shortages and also enables donors to undergo basic health screening. The speakers urged people to come forward and donate blood regularly to help save lives.
Inspector General of Police (TSR), Carey Marak, attended the programme as the chief guest. Among other dignitaries present were Commandant of the 9th TSR Manabendra Chowdhury, Medical Officer of the Blood Bank at Santirbazar District Hospital Dr. Pragati Reang, Commandant of the 11th TSR Battalion Alok Bhattacharjee, Commandant of the 14th TSR Battalion Shishir Kumar Das, Commandant of the 5th TSR Battalion Veneliana Darlong, along with other senior officials.
A total of 65 TSR jawans voluntarily donated blood during the camp. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the personnel, reflecting their strong commitment to humanitarian service and community welfare.
