Agar plantation survey Drone destroyed, two youths arrested at Kailashahar

Two youths were arrested after they destroyed a sophisticated Drone, used for identification of Agar plantation in villages of Gournagar block under Unakoti district allegedly capturing private videos of arrested youth’s houses.
Sources said that modern technology is being used for Agar plantation surveys with flying drones by the Science and Technology Department at Yaje Khaora Gram Panchayat under Gournagar Block of Kailashahar in Unakoti district, but in a shocking incident two local youths obstructed them and vandalized a drone.
Official sources added that the damaged drone is reportedly valued at around Rs 30 lakh.
According to sources, during the survey, two youths from Srinathpur village, identified as Abdul Sakur and Abdul Halim—objected, alleging that the drone was capturing footage of their courtyards and women during bathing. After a heated argument with the operator of Drone, two youths allegedly vandalized the drone controller table, destroyed the drone, and even assaulted the drone operator.
Following the incident, the drone operator, a resident of Govindpur in Kailashahar, along with his colleague from Dhumacherra, lodged a complaint at Irani police station. Police immediately reached the spot and detained the two youths. Later, forest officials and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) also visited the police station to review the situation.
On the other hand, the accused youths’ father, Abdul Aziz speaking with local media persons, alleged that their house has no Agar plantations. He claimed they had not been informed in advance about why drones were flying overhead. He alleged that drones were violating the privacy of women by flying over their house, and said his sons were framed only because they protested. He too filed a written complaint at the police station.
Police sources said that investigation is ongoing to find out the real truth behind this incident.
