In an inspiring celebration of India’s First Cycling Day, the streets of Agartala witnessed a vibrant 3 km cycling rally on Tuesday morning, echoing the nationwide call for fitness and a pollution-free future. The event, organized under the visionary leadership of Mansukh Mandaviya, brought together cycling enthusiasts from all walks of life.
The rally, hosted by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), MYAS, Govt. of India (Tripura), in collaboration with Gopesh Debnath, Bicycle Mayor of Agartala, and the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, commenced from the historic Ujjayanta Palace. It aimed to spread awareness about health, fitness, and environmental preservation under the powerful mantra: “Pedal 4 Fitness and a Pollution-Free Future.”
Over 50 cyclists enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing their commitment to adopting cycling as a sustainable mode of transport. The rally was flagged off by celebrated gymnast Dipa Karmakar, alongside the Director of the Sports Department and other esteemed delegates from SAI.
Speaking on the occasion, Dipa Karmakar emphasized the importance of cycling as a step towards a healthier and cleaner environment. “Cycling not only enhances physical fitness but also significantly reduces pollution, contributing to a greener planet. I encourage everyone to embrace this sustainable lifestyle,” she added.
The event successfully brought together citizens of all ages, uniting them in a shared goal of fitness and environmental responsibility. The Agartala Cycloholics Foundation played a pivotal role in organizing the rally, continuing its commendable efforts in promoting cycling culture in Tripura.
With over 1,000 locations nationwide participating in this initiative, Agartala’s celebration stood out as a testament to the city’s growing enthusiasm for health and sustainability.
An organizer of the event said that the success of India’s First Cycling Day marks a new chapter in the nation’s journey towards a healthier, pollution-free future, with Agartala taking a proud lead. “Let’s pedal together for a sustainable tomorrow!”
