The Tripura police on Sunday handed over 35 stolen mobile sets to its actual owners after these mobile phones were recovered by Central Equipment Identity Register [CEIR] and West Agartala police station from different places.

Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee said that after receiving different complaints of theft in different areas under West Agartala police station under West Tripura district, police registered specific complaints and GD Entry on the basis of complaints by mobile owners.

Based on the complaints, during investigation, police managed to recover 35 smart mobile phones within the last two months of GD Entry and most of the smart mobile phones were recovered through Central Equipment Identity Register [CEIR].

On Sunday, the West Agartala police handed them over these recovered phones to their respective owners. The recovered devices include several expensive phones from different companies, including iPhones.

He said that recently the cases of cyber fraud have increased and police forces are working round the clock to alert people against cyber fraud and has also been taking action against such criminals.

He said that police have also taken legal action against all mobile thieves and urged people to lodge their complaint immediately after they lost their phones.

He added that mobile phone owners expressed their happiness after getting their stolen phones within a short span.

While, police said that soon after receiving any information related to theft, they swung into action and most of the times; they managed to recover stolen items and handed over these to its actual owners after court order.
