The Agartala city police have intensified preparations to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration of ensuing festivities of Durga Puja and Kali Puja (Diwali) in the city, with special emphasis on law and order, traffic management and public safety.

An important meeting was organized by West Agartala police station at Muktdhara Hall on Tuesday, bringing together organizers of various Durga Puja and Kali Puja committees under the West Agartala police station area, along with representatives of other concerned stakeholders.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on maintaining law and order during the festivities, ensuring the safety of visitors, managing traffic congestion and preventing any untoward incidents. Emphasis was also placed on close cooperation among the Puja committees, administration, police and the general public.

Police appealed to Puja organizers and residents to extend full cooperation so that devotees can visit Puja pandals without facing any inconvenience during the festival days.

The Additional SP of West Tripura district, Dhruba Nath, SDPO (Sadar) and officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen and other police officials were present at the first meeting. SDPO Pannalal Sen also spoke in detail on various issues related to the arrangements.

Meanwhile, another important meeting on law-and-order and traffic management arrangements for Durga Puja 2026 held at East Agartala police station on Tuesday evening, where the police and traffic authorities discussed measures to maintain peace and order in Agartala and adjoining areas, regulate traffic and ensure the safety of the public during the celebrations.

The discussions also focused on necessary steps to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated peacefully and smoothly. This year’s celebrations are also significant as Tripura Police is observing its 150th anniversary.
