Agartala city police have achieved a major breakthrough in a theft case reported from the Chittaranjan area under East Agartala police station, recovering stolen goods worth approximately Rs 3 lakh and arresting the prime accused.

According to the complaint, various items, including mobile phones and a laptop, were stolen from the residence of Srideb Saha in the Chittaranjan area on August 12. Following the incident, the victim’s family lodged a complaint at the East Agartala police station.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and, based on leads gathered during the probe, conducted a raid in the Narayan Pur area Gandacherra under Dhalai district. The operation resulted in the recovery of the stolen mobile phones, laptop and other valuables.

Police sources said that, apart from recovering the stolen items last night, the main accused in the case was also arrested. The total value of the recovered articles is estimated at around Rs 3 lakh.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the East Agartala police station, Krishnadhan Sarkar briefed the media about the development and claimed that police are continuing their investigation to determine whether any other persons were involved in the theft.
