Agriculture is the main factor for rural economy: CM
Farmers are the friends of the society and they are the bread-winners of the country and their socio- economic development will ensure welfare of the society, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha after inaugurating Farmer Knowledge Centre at Sekerkote area under West Tripura district Thursday.

He said, the central and the state government have taken various plans for farmers’ welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This Farmer Knowledge Centre will be playing the role of an education institution for the farmers. It is to be noted that the Knowledge Centre has facilities to provide training to 30 farmers through audio-visual. The farmers will be able to attain information related to producing crops and different problems at the centre and take suggestions.
The Chief Minister said, farmers will be able to attain knowledge on increasing crop production, marketing of produced crops etc., at the centre. He also said, agriculture is the main factor for the rural economy. After the present government took over, farmers’ income has almost doubled. That will increase in the future. He said, the farmers are given their respect in the period of the present government. Everyone must be aware of the importance of self-reliant India and self- reliant Tripura. The nation and state will become self-reliant if the farmers prosper. He said, the state government aims to build about 83 Farmer Knowledge Centres in future, one in each agriculture sector offices of the state. Welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department Apurba Roy. Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Sarkar Deb, Vice Chairman of Dukli Panchayat Samiti Dulal Sarkar also spoke in the programme.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department Saradindu Das.
