Amidst RG Kar incident, minor tribal girl gang raped in Udaipur, 4 arrested
At a time, when entire country is fuming and organizing protest demonstrations, strike, called by doctors nationwide, was a 24-hour protest against the horrific crime at the state-run RG Kar medical college in Kolkata, the Gomati district of Tripura has also stunned after 16-years old minor girl was gang raped on the eve of Independence Day.
Sources said that the tragic and brutal incident has been reported to Women police station of RK Pur(Udaipur) under Gomati district on Saturday (August 17) and police registering case under section of 70(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS) and 4th of POCSO Act and has also managed to arrest four miscreants including two juvenile.
Police sources said that on August 14 last, one 16-years old tribal girl of Amarpur subdivision had gone to her aunty’s house in Kuwaimura village of Udaipur subdivision. On the same day, when she was moving in deserted road, four miscreants had kidnapped her and gang raped her in lonely place.
Police sources added that after three hours of the incident, the victim girl narrated the brutality to her aunty, committed on her by four miscreants, the family persons of the victim girl informed the incident of Pita police outpost.
On August 15the, the police personnel from RK Pur Women police station raided at Kuwaimura village and managed to arrest four accused persons including the mastermind of the crime, Karna Jamatia (26).
SP(Gumati) Namit Pathak said that among arrested four accused persons, two are juvenile and after court orders, two juvenile accused were sent to Juvenile justice home and two more adult accused including prime accused Karna Jamatia were sent to jail custody.
When, entire Udaipur town and other parts of the state continuously protesting the lynching of school teacher Abhijit Dey, the youth wings of opposition, DYFI and TYF on Saturday gheraoed the office of the SP(Gomati) demanding stringent punishment against all accused persons.
