AR destroyed 30,000 Cannabis plantations, worth Rs 1.5 cr
Assam Rifles destroyed 25,000 to 30,000 illegal Cannabis Plantations worth 1.5 crore at general areas bordering Kalamchowra Sepahijala district on December 13.
Official sources said that based on the specific information provided by Assam Rifles sources that illegal plantation of Cannabis in a specific area of Kalamchowra, a joint operation was launched and representative of local police station. On reaching the spot, the team identified the plantation area and thereafter the team started destroying the illegal cannabis plantation along with the police personnel and forest officials. Approximately 10 acres of forest land was used for Cannabis plantation and approximately 25,000 to 30,000 Cannabis plants were destroyed by burning of approximate market worth 1.5 crore by the forest department.
