Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs authorities, seized 340 kg of Cannabis (Ganja) valued at approximately Rs 1.74 crore during an anti-narcotics operation in Tripura’s Khowai district on October 6.

The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs and sustained surveillance aimed at curbing the illegal trafficking of narcotics through the Northeast.

During the operation, the joint team intercepted a Ford EcoSport vehicle and conducted a search. The search led to the recovery of 340 kg of Ganja.

The seizure highlights the continued efforts of Assam Rifles and other enforcement agencies to disrupt narcotics trafficking networks operating across the Northeast.

The recovered contraband along with the seized vehicle was subsequently handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.
