Assam Rifles conducts large-scale destruction of Ganja plants, worth Rs. 2.9 Cr

In a major crackdown against illicit drug cultivation, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Police and Forest department, carried out a highly coordinated operation during the wee hours of January 11th, 2025, destroying a broad swath of Ganja plantation in Dhanirampur area, under Sonamura police station of Boxanagar Forest Range of Sepahijala district.

Spanning an expansive 100 acres (40.5 hectares), the operation led to the destruction of approximately 75,000 cannabis plants, with an estimated market value of Rs 2.9 crore. The scale and success of this mission underline the relentless efforts of Assam Rifles in combating the drug menace in the region.

The local administration played a pivotal role in supporting the operation, ensuring its success and reinforcing the importance of a unified approach in tackling such challenges. The mission’s impact is a significant step toward promoting a drug free environment and safeguarding the future of the region.

Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its dedication to fighting drug related crimes, sending a strong message against illegal cultivation and the broader nexus of organized crime.
