In a major operation against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, successfully intercepted a consignment of 270 cartons of imported foreign cigarettes containing approximately 25 lakh sticks, along with a truck bearing registration number AS-01-JC-0385, in Ambassa, Dhalai District, Tripura. The estimated value of the seized items is Rs 2.6 crore in the international market.
During the operation, one individual was apprehended in connection with the smuggling activity.
The seized contraband items and the apprehended individual were handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and necessary legal action.
This operation reflects Assam Rifles' unyielding resolve in combating smuggling and maintaining vigilance against illegal activities in the region.
In another operation, in a well-coordinated operation, Assam Rifles and Ambassa Police intercepted a major smuggling attempt near General Area Ambassa in Dhalai District, Tripura. The operation led to the recovery of 189 kgs of dry marijuana (Ganja), costing approximately Rs 85 lakh in the international market. A Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-BD-2309 was also seized during the operation.
Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the smuggling activity. The recovered items, vehicle, and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Ambassa Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This successful operation reflects the commitment of Assam Rifles and Ambassa Police in combating smuggling activities and ensuring security and law enforcement in the region.
