Assam Rifles, police seized huge quantities of Ganja, arrest five smugglers
Assam Rifles in two consecutive successful joint operations seized 98 kilograms and 66 kilograms of Marijuana (Ganja) worth Rs 45 lakh and 30 lakh respectively on July 25 and 26.
The joint operation with police department also resulted in apprehension of five individuals and two vehicles from general area of Dhalai district of Tripura on July 26.
Assam Rifles through a press statement said that based on credible information, an operation was launched by Assam Rifles in the general area Dhalai district. The team successfully recovered 98 Kgs and 66 Kgs of Ganja worth 45 Lakh and 30 Lakh respectively on the intervening nights of 25th & 26th July 2024. Seized contents and the apprehended individuals were handed over to Dhalai district police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Success of such operations highlights Assam Rifles' commitment to fight against illegal smuggling of contraband items and strengthen initiatives to make the society free from Drugs.
