Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen under 72-hour observation after brain surgery

The Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Biswa Bandhu Sen, who suffered severe internal brain haemorrhage and on emergency operated in a private hospital at Agartala on Friday night by a group of doctors led by Dr Deb Dutta Saha, but remains critical till last report and doctors put him under 72-hour observation.
Private hospital sources said blood clots were removed from four spots of the brain and the surgery was successful. They, however, stated that the Speaker remains critical and he would be under observation for 72 hours.
Speaker, Sen (72) suffered head injuries in the lavatory of the Agartala Railway Station on Friday evening before his scheduled journey to Dharmanagar in North Tripura, his home constituency. He was rushed to the nearby Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Hospital where emergency unit doctors conducted a medical examination, which revealed an internal brain haemorrhage and doctors have advised for immediate surgery . Upon requests from the family, the patient was referred to a private hospital in Agartala.
Soon after the incident was reported, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury immediately rushed to the hospital.
Later, doctors shifted him to the private hospital at the new capital complex area of the city, where a team of doctors led by Dr Deb Dutta Saha operated him on emergency purpose on Friday night to clear haemorrhage from his brain.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who visited the ailing Speaker at both medical facilities, informed on Saturday that a joint medical team of the government surgeons and the private hospital conducted the brain surgery and it was successful.
