Baby Marathon–II held in Agartala with enthusiastic participation of 180 children

Amid enthusiastic cheers and the lively participation of children, the second edition of the Baby Marathon–II was successfully held at the NSRCC Ground in Agartala on Sunday. The event was jointly organized by News NE Bangla and Shyam Sundar & Co. Jewellers.

The marathon was inaugurated by Swami Bhakti Sadhananda Ji of Ramakrishna Mission, who formally flagged off the event by releasing pigeons. A large number of parents, guardians and well-wishers gathered to witness the unique sporting event for young children.

Several eminent personalities were present at the inauguration, including Rupak Saha, Secretary of East Bengal Club; Sanjay Pal, Chairman of Dainik Sambad Trust; veteran editor and General Secretary of the Assembly of Journalists Sanit Deb Ray; Dr. S. P. Gaur, President of the Uttar Pradesh Union of Shramajibi Patrika and PTI Bureau Chief; and Purnalata Ji, a Tata Steel 25-metre marathon medalist.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Sukanta Ghosh, Secretary of the Tripura Sports Council; Sujit Roy, Secretary of the Tripura Olympic Association; and Alok Ghosh, General Secretary of the Tripura Journalists’ Union, among others.

A total of 180 children participated in the marathon, divided into four age-based categories. Twenty children competed in the 8–14 months crawling category, while 60 participants took part in the 1.5 to 2.5 years group. The 2.5 to 4 years and 4 to 6 years categories witnessed 50 participants each.

Winners securing first, second and third positions in each category were awarded real gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively. All participants received certificates and trophies in recognition of their participation.

In the crawling competition, Adika Pal, Barun Saha and Divangshi Pal secured first, second and third positions respectively.

In the 1.5 to 2.5 years category, Anushap Pal, Adi Group and Asmita Sharma emerged as the top three winners.

In the 2.5 to 4 years group, Adhabik Chakraborty, Anusha Dhanuk and Ribon Dey secured first, second and third places respectively.

In the 4 to 6 years category, Rajdeep Saha, Afrin Imran and Ainsa Chakraborty clinched the top three positions.

The event concluded on a joyful note, celebrating early childhood participation in sports and encouraging healthy development from a young age.
