Biggest seizure by Tripura police, Yaba tablets worth of Rs. 28 Cr seized, 2 arrested
In a biggest drugs haul in recent times, Tripura police on Monday achieved major success by intercepting a truck and managed to seize Yaba tablets worth Rs. 28 crore and have also arrested two drug peddlers.
After the successful operation, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha through his social media has congratulated the Dhalai district police for their big success and said “ Big win for Nasha Mukt Tripura! Dhalai Police intercepted a vehicle carrying 9,24,000 Yaba Tablets worth ₹28 cr, arresting 2 individuals & registering a case under NDPS Act. Kudos to Dhalai District Police for their tireless efforts.”
Police sources said that based on secret information, a contingent of police led by SP(Dhalai) and other officials detained a truck bearing registration number AS-01-HC-6438 at Betbagan Naka point of Ambassa under Dhalai district on Monday morning.
During a search in the truck, police recovered 9.24 lakh Yaba tablets from the oil tanker of the vehicle and have also detained two drug peddlers.
Police added that the market value of the seized contraband items is approximately Rs. 28 crore. Police have also registered a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 and started investigation to find out the sources of these huge quantities of contraband items.
