Police of NCC police station in Agartala have achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation into the theft of a laptop from GB Hospital. One person has been arrested, and five mobile phones have also been recovered during the investigation.
The laptop theft was reported from GB Hospital on August 17, following which police immediately launched an investigation. Acting on leads gathered during the probe, police detained a suspected thief and obtained important information during questioning.
Based on the information provided by the accused, police subsequently conducted an operation and recovered five mobile phones. A police team led by SI Suman Das and Zainal Hossain played a key role in the operation. One person was arrested in connection with the case.
Among the recovered mobile phones, one reportedly belongs to a doctor staying at the PG Girls’ Hostel. Police are continuing their investigation to identify all those involved in the theft and recover other stolen items.
Police said the arrested accused will be produced before the court after completion of the necessary legal procedures. Investigators are also examining whether others were involved in the theft and trying to ascertain the whereabouts of any other stolen property.
Providing details of the investigation, NCC police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Paritosh Das said police launched a probe soon after receiving the complaint regarding the theft of the laptop from GB Hospital. During the investigation, the accused was detained, and based on information obtained from him, police conducted an operation and recovered five more mobile phones.
Police are currently verifying the ownership of the recovered items and continuing efforts to identify and locate other persons who may be involved in the incident.
The police action and recovery of the stolen articles have brought relief to the hospital authorities, staff and others associated with the hospital.
