Marking World Blood Donor Day, the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier organised a voluntary blood donation camp at its Frontier Headquarters in Salbagan area of Agartala on Saturday to encourage the spirit of voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about its life-saving importance.
The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Princee Rani, Inspector General, BSF Tripura Frontier, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
Held under the theme “One Drop of Humanity – Give Blood, Save Lives,” the camp was organised by the CAPF Composite Hospital, Agartala, in collaboration with the Blood Bank department of AGMC and GB Pant Hospital, Agartala.
Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, Secretary of Finance and Public Works Department (PWD) of Tripura, attended the programme as the chief guest. Officers, subordinate officers and jawans of the BSF participated enthusiastically in the initiative and donated a total of 50 units of blood for patients in need.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and lauded the donors for their selfless contribution towards saving lives. They stressed that a single unit of donated blood can make a critical difference in medical emergencies and healthcare services.
The organisers said the event reflected BSF’s continued commitment to social welfare initiatives and community service beyond its primary role of safeguarding the nation’s borders.
The blood donation camp concluded with a renewed appeal to citizens to come forward and donate blood regularly, helping ensure an adequate supply for patients requiring urgent medical care.
