By-election: MCC screening committee constituted
The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) of the Election Commission has come into effect for the upcoming By-election to 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur assembly constituencies.
In this context, a screening committee has been formed under the leadership of the Chief Secretary as per the instruction issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 8. The Chief Secretary is the chairman of the committee. Other members of the committee include-Secretaries, Members of concerned departments of MCC, Labour, GA (AR), PWD, Secretary of Urban Development Department and DGP and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of Forest Department. In case of application clarification during the Code of Conduct, the Committee will verify the same before sending it to the Election Commission through the concerned Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) as per the guidelines given in the ECI portal.
If the committee is satisfied with this, then it will send the application, clarification to the Election Commission with detailed information. This news has been informed in a notification by the Election Department.
