City police arrested 3 thieves, recovered stolen gold, AC items

The Agartala city police in a successful operation have managed to arrest three thieves and recovered stolen gold jewelleries and accessories of air-conditioned (AC) machines from their possessions on Tuesday.
Giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that on August 3rd last, a group of thieves raided at a temple in the house of Dr Rakesh Das (cardiologist) in Durga Chowmuhani area under West Agartala police station and looted all valuable gold jewelleries from the temple.
After the incident was reported, the Sankar Das, father of Dr Rakesh Das filed an FIR and police formed a team led by OC Rana Chatterjee, said Roy and added that based on circumstantial evidences and other secret inputs, police within 48-hours of the incident has managed to arrest two suspected thieves.
Arrested thieves, identified as Viki Tanti and Gopal Das from Radhanagar area of the city and during interrogation, confessed over their involvement in the stolen incident at the temple, said SDPO.
He added that as per interrogation statements of both arrested thieves, police have also recovered all stolen gold jewelleries from their hideouts.
While, during investigation of recent stolen incidents over AC parts and copper cables, the investigation team of West Agartala police station has also arrested a infamous thief, Rajesh Namo from East Aralia area and recovered some stolen items of AC machines under his possessions.
The SDPO added that all arrested thieves will be produced before a local court with police remand appeals to get details of their stolen network and to arrest other thieves associated with their gang.
