City police arrested three drug peddlers with a kingpin, recovered large quantities of drugs
The Agartala city police have intensified their crackdown under ‘anti-drug’ operations and on Tuesday evening arrested three drug peddlers including a kingpin and recovered huge quantities of contraband items under their possession.
Speaking with media persons SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy accompanied by OC of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee said that based on secret information, the police personnel from East Agartala PS and MG Bazar outpost managed to arrest one fugitive drug smuggler, identified as Pradip Kumar Das alias Niru from MG Bazar area, who was responsible for drug network spread in market areas of MG Bazar.
Roy said that based on the interrogation statements of arrested Niru, police also arrested two of accomplices, identified as Ajoy Kumar Roy and Manish Roy from Lake Chowmuhani Bazar area and recovered 24 grams of Heroin under their possession.
He said that police also recovered large quantities of SP tablets and Corex cough syrup, one mobile phone and a motorbike under their possession of Niru. He added that they have also identified four more smugglers and peddlers associated with them and will soon be arrested. Roy also said that their crackdown operation will further be strengthened before the festival and drug smugglers will be arrested from the city.
