A tragic incident in North Maheshpur under Kathaliya block under Sepahijala district has cast a pall of grief over the locality after a Class XI student, identified as Rupanjali Paul, died by suicide at her residence on Saturday morning, shortly before she was due to leave for school.
According to local sources, the incident took place at the house of Liton Deb in Ward No. 4 of North Maheshpur. Liton Deb has a son and a daughter, with Rupanjali studying in Class XI.
The incident reportedly occurred while her parents were occupied with household chores. When they noticed their daughter, the situation soon turned into a tragedy, leaving the family devastated.
As news of the incident spread, a large number of local residents gathered at the house. Rupanjali’s mother reportedly fainted after learning what had happened.
Upon receiving information, police personnel from Jatrapur police station rushed to the spot and took the student to Kathalia Community Health Centre, where she was declared dead. Her body was subsequently kept at the hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The circumstances that led to the young student’s death remain unclear. The incident has triggered widespread concern and grief in the area, with police expected to investigate the matter further.
