Cong MLA raises questions over law and order situation in Unakoti district

Once again senior Congress MAL, Birajit Sinha, of Kailashahar assembly constituency has raised serious concerns over deteriorating law and order situation in Unakoti district.
Speaking with media persons on Thursday morning Sinha strongly asserted that the district’s security system has completely collapsed, and due to the administration’s irresponsible attitude, public fear is increasing daily over the law and order situation.
“Some days ago, I said that there is no law and order in Unakoti district. In response to my statement, the district’s Superintendent of Police claimed that the law and order situation was under control and that the administration was functioning properly. But the reality is exactly the opposite,” alleged Sinha.
Giving examples of deteriorating law and order situation, Sinha alleged that on the night of August 5th alone, stolen incidents occurred in five educational institutions under the Kailashahar subdivision including Radhakishore Institution, Ramkrishna Shiksha Pratisthan, Srirampur Suryamani School, Dhanbilas Higher Secondary School and Dhanbilas Anganwadi Centre.
The simultaneous thefts at these five institutions have triggered widespread panic across the district.
He questioned and asked the SP what is the situation of law and order in the district, where five schools were robbed in a single night, and yet the police have not been able to catch even a single thief. This is nothing but a total administrative failure, alleged Birajit and added that he will write to the DGP (Director General of Police) of the state about the situation and demand immediate action to restore law and order in Unakoti district.
MLA Birajit Sinha’s remarks and the questions raised about police effectiveness have now sparked intense discussion in the district’s administrative circles. All eyes are now on how the higher authorities of the state police or administration will respond to the matter.
