Cyber bully Saikat Talapatra again sends for 5 days PR, one advocate seek anticipatory bail
Cyber bully Saikat Talapatra, who is running a social media channel ‘Independent’ was again on Monday produced before courts after seven days police remand and court sent him for five more days in police custody.
Giving details of the cases filed against Saikat Talapatra, who was running a yellow journalism and blackmailing network with a help of an advocate, special public prosecutor Samrat Kar Bhowmik said that after seven days police remand, the police personnel from West Agartala, West women police stations and Crime Branch produced him before three separate courts of Agartala.
In two cases, the Investigating Officer (IO) from West Agartala PS and Crime branch demanded for judicial custody in two separate cases and the courts of West Tripura Session judge and the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (West) send him for 14 days judicial custody upto October 27 next, said Kar Bhowmik.
He added that in another case registered at West Agartala women police, case number 51/2023 by one Puja Roy against Saikat Talapatra and another advocate Raghunath Mukherjee with charges of extortion and blackmailing, the court send him five more days police custody upto October 20.
In the same case, advocate Raghunath Mukherjee prayed for anticipatory bail before the Session court and an appeal for protection from police arrest. Kar Bhowmik said that the court after hearing the submission from prosecution and defense teams, ordered that the hearing on bail petition of Raghunath Mukherjee will be heard on October 18 next and till then, the court did not give any protection to Raghunath Mukherjee from police arrest.
