Dense fog, Cold Day conditions to continues to sweep Tripura
As cold winds kept the mercury below normal levels, the maximum temperature on January 9th morning recorded 19.8 degrees Celsius, which was below 3.4 degrees from normal temperature and are the main reason for severe cold, although minimum temperature was normal considering the present winter season. IMD said dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets of all districts of Tripura.
The MET said that the cold wave will continue for next few days across Tripura due to the thick layer of fog present over almost the whole of Tripura. Because of the cloudy and foggy sky, the sun could not appear for the last two days; as a result, the normal temperature in day time has decreased, resulting in coldness sweeping the state.
On Tuesday, the mercury dropped to 19.8 degrees Celsius at maximum level, India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
On Tuesday morning Agartala along with its vicinity witnessed densely foggy morning along with cold wind and the minimum temperature was recorded at 13.2 degrees Celsius, which 2.6 degrees Celsius above from normal temperature, which normal in the first part of January. During few days Tripura with other parts of the Northeast region is gripped by cold waves, dense fog along with neighbouring Bangladesh.
The chill wind is normal and it’s about 3 to 5 knots per hour, but its intensity in surface level is maximum. Since Monday morning till Tuesday afternoon, Agartala and other parts of the state passes through foggy weather and due to dense layer of fog, the sunlight cannot reach the surfaces.
The India Meteorological department (IMD), Agartala station said deep fog layer are moving above the skies of Tripura and it will continue on Thursday also. IMD said that minimum temperature will hover 12 to 13 degrees Celsius for next two to three days more. The Met office further added, the fog reduced visibility in the morning. The Met office has forecast a foggy day on Wednesday also and maximum and minimum temperatures recorded 23 degree and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
The weatherman also predicted that dense fog conditions are also very likely to prevail for a few hours in morning in isolated pockets over Tripura on during Wednesday and Thursday.
“Cold Day to severe Cold Day conditions are very likely to continue in some parts over other Northeastern states on Wednesday and abate thereafter,” said the weatherman.
