Eight more Bangladeshi arrested from Agartala-Silchar passenger train
Amidst continuation of infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura, eight more citizens of the neighbouring Bangladeshi were arrested by Border Security Force (BSF) from a passenger train at Churaibari railway station under North Tripura district on Saturday evening.
Infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past one month Bangladesh nationals were arrested from different parts of the state.
BSF sources said that based on intelligence inputs from G-Branch of the border guards over movements of few Bangladeshi through a passenger train, a team of BSF raided the Agartala-Silchar passenger train on Saturday evening.
During search in the train, BSF jawans identified eight suspected Bangladesh nationals and during preliminary interrogation, they revealed that with help of human traffickers they sneak into Indian territory through the Agartala border and after crossing the barbed wire fencing .
After reaching Agartala city, they boarded a passenger bus and arrived at Manu, then they boarded the Agartala-Silchar passenger train to reach their destination at Orissa for work.
Sources said that during preliminary interrogation, arrested Bangladeshi youths, identified as Mohambad Naimun (25), MD Sohail (29), Md Rabikul (19), Md Sehab (19), Md Sakil (18), Rubal (25), Md Rihan (20) and Mohamad Iqbal (28), all were residents of Rajshahi and Chapai Nawabganj districts of Bangladesh and were travelling without any valid documents.
BSF sources added all detained Bangladeshi youths would be handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
While, police sources said that investigation is underway to identify those who helped them enter India and added that police have registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners were produced before a local court on monday for further legal proceedings.
