A tragic incident claimed the life of an elderly woman after she was electrocuted while carrying out household work at her residence in the Korailong area under Teliamura police station of Khowai district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Anu Yadav, aged around 60. According to reports, she accidentally came into contact with a live electrical source while performing her routine household chores, resulting in severe electrocution.
Family members immediately rushed her to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. However, after examination, the attending doctors declared her dead.
The sudden demise of the elderly woman has cast a pall of gloom over the Korailong locality. As news of the incident spread, relatives, neighbours, and local residents gathered at the hospital to express their condolences.
The incident once again highlights the importance of exercising extreme caution while handling or working near electrical appliances and wiring, as even a moment of negligence can prove fatal.
